Lawson, Missouri started off as a railroad town in 1870. Now, more than 150 years later, the community has grown into one of the best places to live and raise children in the entire Midwest! Lawson is progressive and forward thinking while preserving a lifestyle suitable for families, those working from home, commuting to work, and retirees! Located 20 minutes from Liberty and 45 minutes from KCI Airport, Lawson is the perfect place to offer both access to Kansas City along with a quiet, safe, country-like atmosphere.

Community recreational opportunities abound for youth including 4-H, robotics, soccer, wrestling, gymnastics, softball, baseball, basketball, football, golf, swimming, scouting, fishing, camping and hiking …..and more! Lawson has an 18-hole golf course, baseball complex, Lawson City Lake complex (with fishing/kayaking opportunities, walking trail, disc golf course, campground and event center), and nearby Watkins Mill State Park!

Lawson School District has won countless awards for both academics and sports. On top of that, the Lawson School District has one of the finest performing arts centers in the Greater Kansas City area. The Community Library Media Center is housed in the High School and open to patrons with extended hours.

We couldn’t agree more.  Come visit your local Library Media Center (LMC).  A quiet place to study, relax, work or simply escape in a good book.  It’s fun, the old fashioned way. We are continually upgrading our collection to offer the newest releases and always taking recommendations from our patrons. Our electronic resources are the newest software version available.

Church Community

Lawson has several local places of worship in the community. 

Youth Activities, Clubs and Organizations

Get involved!  A variety of clubs and organizations are available for the youth of Lawson in addition to those offered by the Lawson School District.  Choose from scouting, 4-H, soccer, basketball, football, softball, baseball, Young Life, as well as many local church programs! 

Play ground equipment, fishing, camping, hiking, and golf are also available at our City Park, City Lake, and local golf course.  The Lawson Park Board offer events throughout the year.
