Lawson City Hall will be closed on Monday, October 12 in observation of Columbus Day. We will resume normal business hours on Tuesday, October 13 at 8:30am.
The Lawson Police Department will be on hand during the Lawson Fall Festival to answer questions and issue permits for e-bikes. For that day only, the $5 fee will be waived! Stop by the Lawson City Park where they will be set up with the other vendors (near the center of the parking lot).

Congratulations to the Lawson Park Board for being recognized in the Missouri Parks and Recreation Association magazine for the playground project. The playground was a great example of community organizations coming together for the greater good of the whole!

CITY IMPLEMENTS NEW E-BIKE AND SCOOTER ORDINANCES
Due to the city’s growing safety concerns, the Lawson City Council passed a new set of ordinances that will create a safer environment for everyone on the roads. The new rules were developed using community feedback and guidance from the city attorneys as well as the already-established state statutes on e-bike and scooter safety.
While the new policy goes into effect immediately, the Lawson Police Department will initially issue warnings as people are made aware of the changes. The general rules are as follows:
1. Anyone under 18 riding an escooter/ebike must wear a bike helmet.
2. No one can ride them on US 69 or Hwy D. You can only cross over those roads.
3. You can’t ride them on sidewalks except at the lake trail.
4. Ebikes must be registered with the city and have a city sticker based on bike classification. There is a $5 fee for the sticker.
5. Ebikes and escooters must be ridden on the right side of the road next to the shoulder and must follow the rules of the road. (stop signs and turn signals)
6. If an officer witnesses a violation by a minor, the ebike/escooter can be impounded for up to five days and the PARENT can be cited.
7. Violations by people over eighteen can be cited into court.
8. To ride a class 3 ebike, you must be at least 16 years of age.

The ebike to be permitted must be on site to confirm its class status so the appropriate permit sticker can be issued. Motorists are reminded to slow down and pay attention while driving in work zones. Not all work zones look alike. Work zones can also be short-term, temporary lane closures to make quick repairs or remove debris from the roadway.

Hope everyone is having a great summer and is enjoying preparing for school to start again. A couple of updates for the pool's operations as we finish out this pool season soon:
1. As of TODAY at 3pm, we are going to start selling all of our concessions at a significantly lower price to try and get rid of inventory before Labor Day! Make sure to grab some snacks at low prices next time you're here.
2. We will be open everyday until school starts on the 19th like normal, and then after that, we will only be open the 23rd, 24th, 30th, 31st of August, and Labor Day (September 1st).
3. On Labor Day, our hours will be from 12pm-6pm. Amenities will be limited that day as we will be preparing to close for the winter.

The costume contest to BEFORE the Trunk or Treat on Saturday, October 17. The contest will be on the stage at 4:30pm. Because of this, the line up for Trunk or Treat will be at the NORTH end of the park, near the flag pole. There will be a balloon arch marking the start of the line which should then wrap around to the west, going behind the snack shack and stage. Please help us share this big change, so people know where to go!!
