Welcome to Lawson MO!

Lawson, Missouri is located just north of the Kansas City metro and with around 2500 residents, we are a desirable size town.

We don’t hide the fact that we’re small. Indeed, we embrace and celebrate it. We enjoy a community where family values, quality education and community pride create the ideal place to live, work and play.

And yet, we strive to develop strategies that allow us to achieve purposeful and deliberate growth. Around here, we dare to dream big, and then we roll up our sleeves and get to work making it happen. Just take a look around town at all of the improvements over the past decade – a brand new Splash Park, upgrades to our City Pool, improvements to our City Lake complex with the addition of the Lakeview Event Center and Lakeview Campground and RV Park, the new Barker Center on the high school campus, and many more projects that are coming down the pike.

While we have no intention of being the next big city, we won’t ever settle for less when it comes to improving the quality of life for our residents. We are proud to be a small town with big dreams!

The City of Lawson is encouraging voters to educate themselves about the upcoming no-tax increase bond election that will take place on Tuesday, April 2, 2024. If passed, the City plans to attack four major projects. The biggest project is the Salem Road extension that would connect Salem Road (from the corner of Salem and Moss) directly to D Highway. This would create a safe bypass of the Nolker/Cardinal Circle neighborhood which was never designed to be the main thoroughfare through town. The $1.3 million project has been a high priority for many years with City Administrator Nolker stating, “This is absolutely a safety issue for that neighborhood, and we have been planning the Salem Road extension as the solution to the heavy traffic through town. Everyone thought we were crazy when we bought a house and moved it, but this is something we have been planning for many years.”
